The car is available with both manual 5 versions , as well as automatic 1 version gearbox. The most economical Ford Focus petrol engine version is , consuming 7 litres per 100km. Overall, a great everyday driver 4 out of 5 stars by I'd buy another from from Western Mass. It is a dream that Ford has enticed me to share before, and my unabashed support for the ill-fated Contour has tended to marginalize my expectations as a North American auto enthusiast. No problems with interior features or electronics. The Focus manages to be both logical in its design as well as fun to drive. Have taken this car on many cross country trips with no problems.
It's not a family car what so ever. If you want something that will get you to work or school and back and that's it, you could do worse. The radio has a loose connection at the security device which causes it to crap out when I hit a pre program button. I put around 80 000 km in two years. If I have any qualms about the Focus lineup at all, they derive from Ford's persistence in chasing the World Car dream. It was my parents car before they gave it to me.
The entire front end was destroyed, but thanks to the airbags and other safety features, she walked away with some bruising and that was it. It handles very well on the roads and good on snow as well. But on the one continent that mattered then and matters still—all-dominant North America—overall sales of the car were a dud. Love this car and plan on keeping this car till I need something new. Time, then, to descend the demographic staircase and return to the demimonde of subcompacts, favored by youngsters with entry-level paychecks and by budgeteers of every age. Its been a very reliable car since new, of course I keep up with the maintance that could be one reason.
A genuine subcompact, the Focus sedan is a tall and wide bubble inside that consigns the competition to inner spacelessness by comparison. The 130hp engine was surprisingly quick in the light car and made it even more enjoyable to drive. I tried to file the lemon law on it and they claimed it was not a safety issue. I enjoy driving this vehicle to work, 80 kms approx. Acceleration is all that I could desire.
No Review Date: 29th June, 2005 I have always found the Americans to criticise Ford cars all the time, whether they are good or bad. The handling was superb, very 'go cart-ish' and far superior to other similar models, namely the Chevy Cobalt. I've spent zero on repairs, just normal oil, filter and tire changes, still has the original brakes! This Ford is available with three petrol engines with displacement from 1. It's not a family car what so ever. Last week, kp was the first to correctly identify our Mystery Vehicle, a 2000 Ford Focus.
The only other fault is the windshield washer reservoir design which sloshes fluid out of the breather hole with every hard decelleration. Once I hit the curb, major body damage, as well as mechanical damage was done. While the most economical Ford Focus diesel - for 100 kilometers consumes 5. The ride is very comfortable. We recently sampled some early examples of this new-for-2001 recipe in a preview drive… Bye-bye, Escort. Interior quality and pronounced road noise mar this otherwise capable package though. The car truly feels the road.
As your review proves, American cars don't take a back seat to any car made anywhere in the world. It's sporty looking and fun to drive. It's a very small car. Ford expects nearly half of Street Edition buyers to be 35 or younger. Specifically, I mean the sheer physical magic by which a series of discreet, still photographs springs alive into motion before our very eyes. And it's great on gas.
I don't recommend purchasing a Focus for the price they are charging. I've found it to be a fun car to drive with a spunky engine and great handling. This European-developed car offers ride comfort and agility on par with respectable sport sedans. It looks pretty darn sharp, too. It's a very small car.
