You should ask the dealer for the codes hiding behind P0700 and post them here so we can figure out what is really going on before you have any work done. The Special model has good acceleration, braking and over all control.

If just the Solenoid being replaced that's a much more reasonable cost. As Alex said, some of the auto parts stores have the higher-end code readers that will give you the codes underlying the P0700 for free. Car was stuck in limp home mode. Was told that to correct the shudder would require a tune up and cleaning of injectors. How often than not is it just the solenoid pack, where the valve body need not replacing? Had not thought to request dealer hold old parts but just called to request them to hold. The vehicle was shut off and when restarted, the vehicle resumed normal operation. I even gave the dealer a copy of the Aamco diagnosis. Yesterday i noticed that my transmission on my 01 300M was not shifting out of first gear in drive mode. Transmission fluid is red in color, engine oil is brown-- however in order to change the transmission you must remove the engines crankshaft sensor, the engine dipstick tube, and if your not carefull you can disturb the oil pan gasket. I pulled the fuses to reset the codes and clear the engine light.
Only downside to the 300M Special would be the lowered ride hight watch out for parking blocks! Try setting the park brake prior to shifting to park.
