The contact stated that the speedometer did not function correctly. We never know when the speedometer will stop working. The dealer acknowledged the failures and stated that only vehicles with 70,000 miles or less would be covered under warranty. I tried swapping the ipc fuse with no success. I had my dealership call since they were aware I had reported it and because they made no notes of it on my service record they would told the same.
The top-of-the-line Yukon Denali was featured in movies, pop music, music videos, you name it. No driveability problem even when this happens. Speedometer remained stuck on 36 mph for 2 days. It is definately a safety issue and should have been recalled. It covered several years of and trucks. Manufacturer will replace at no charge if your under the warranty 7 years or 70,000 miles which I fill is very cleaver for them. And they have the nerve to cry for bailout money! Special Coverage Adjustment This special coverage covers the condition described above for a period of 7 years or 70,000 miles 110,000 km , whichever occurs first, from the date the vehicle was originally placed in service, regardless of ownership.
The contact stated that while driving various speeds, she noticed that the speedometer and tachometer displayed an erroneous reading of zero. I called the company and they said if its within 70-80 thousand miles they will assist. I can unhook the positive on my battery and the gauges drop back down. The fuel and water gauges indicated that the vehicle was empty when the contact fills it up. I only work 7 miles from home and I've had to pull over more than 10 times just to get to work.
The contact received a letter that stated she would experience failures with her vehicle's instrument panel gauges. I don't think that's the issue here. When I stop the vehicle, I can turn off the engine. A call to general motors and an hour of time I was told nothing can be done I was out of recall notice mileage and I was out of luck and had to pay for the repair myself. This may include the speedometer and odometer, tachometer, fuel level, temperature, oil pressure, gauges and more. After reconnecting battery speedometer appeared to correct itself.
Ten minutes down the road for a lane change to the left, I signaled and the same thing happened both arrows flashing. It wouldn't come on when it was started, then it would come on after driving it for 5 minutes or so. This may cause inaccurate readings, including the speedometer and fuel gauge. Attempted to resolve problem several times, but running out of options. Speedometer sticks, or accelerates to 120 mph.
Since then it has not given accurate information. By now I thought the problem was associated with the cold weather, because spring of 2011, the problem mysteriously went away, and came back November of 2011 at 100,150 miles. The issue comes on gradually so there is a period of time with the speedometer you really dot not know how fast you are traveling. Or maybe it just reads 0 mph all the time. Does anyone have any info on this type of cluster? To which the receipt from the dealership states they replaced the whole cluster.
The first time, the vehicle was still under warranty and the dealer could not duplicate the failure. Had the same thing on my Chevy Tahoe. Instrument panel cluster failed exactly as described in recall at approx. They provided defective stepper motors on the instrument panel and are profiting from the repair. I eventually disconnected the vehicles battery for approx.
It was never the whole cluster that went out, just the odometer. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000. . If there was a problem before they knew it that sooner or later we would have a problem with the speedometer. Your web-site made the process very easy and saved me approx. I know Mechanics always wants to see the problem duplicated to diagnose the cause.
