The interior is so stylish--my only complaint is the cup holders are small. Compared to other leading hybrid cars, the difference, again, depends on what you want. The only criticisms we had for the Malibu were inside the car; and they were minimal. Originally, I wanted a Honda Accord, but as soon as I sat in the Malibu, I was in love. The call went through and the quality was still good, although we heard a little bit of interference.
It looks wonderful, is solidly built and carefully crafted inside and out, offers good fuel economy, drives wonderfully and is priced to sell in serious volumes. Safety is a strong point for the 2008 Chevrolet Malibu; it's earned the top five-star rating in all of the federal government's crash tests, along with top Good ratings from the insurance industry in frontal offset and side tests. At first it was fine. It's an unabashed Yankee Doodle Dandy, from its broad smiling face and blingy chrome wheels to the brightwork ringing the windows. Likewise, when we received a call in the car with a full strength signal, we found it very easy to hear the audio. It performs these tasks with no drama, as buyers have insisted.
What's New for 2008 Fully redesigned for 2008, the Chevrolet Malibu is now roomier, more powerful and of notably higher quality. All come with anti-lock brakes, traction control, side-curtain airbags, front-seat airbags, OnStar and are pre-wired for satellite radio. Around 88k, the service air bag light came on. Average is a glittering triumph.
It blocks almost half of the pass-thru height, but it doesn't eliminate the feature entirely and it has minimal effect on the trunk itself. The suspension does offer a fairly comfortable ride, with good damping. Our third problem with OnStar is that it assigns a separate phone number for the car--people who call you won't know if you happen to be driving, and will probably just end up calling your cell phone. It is a super fun car to drive but I have had nothing but problems since the day I bought it. By now, you've no doubt heard of Cash for Clunkers, informally known as the U. This method is reliable only if you do it consistently for tankful after tankful, so two tanks isn't enough.
It also allows the engine to turn off when the car is stopped, restarting it instantly when your foot comes off the brake. The problem was that only a few could even be considered decent, and even fewer could compete. The trunk lid opens on external strut-style hinges and the cargo space inside is huge. The premium has been determined based on annual premium data for defined coverages liability, comprehensive and collision from a major insurer. Test the tech: Can you hear me now? Although this audio system produces decent sound, it isn't exceptional.
Although you can hear the power steering whine at low speeds, the cabin is impressively hushed at highway speeds and seat comfort and support is superb, making the Malibu ideal for long trips. Consumer Reports subscribers reported on any serious problems they had with their vehicles during the past 12 months that they considered serious because of cost, failure, safety, or downtime, in any of the trouble spots included in the table below. The brake lights go out on all of these and I paid quite a bit to have it replaced. The Malibu nameplate has been around for 30 years. On paper, the audio system sounds pretty good. The second black mark is that fact a few small bits in the interior seemed ever-so-slightly mismatched in terms of quality. One of the gauges stopped emitting a signal. The OnStar button is on the rear-view mirror bezel. It doesn't feel heavy at all unless you want to go from 0-60, then you feel that horsepower to weight ratio take its toll. The result is the same: less work for the gas engine and thus less fuel burned. Show full review The 2008 Chevrolet Malibu, one of the most impressive cars out of Detroit in decades, is detailed in a separate , so I'm reporting on the 2008 Malibu Hybrid, focusing on the hybrid aspects and my experiences with it on an interstate trip as well as around town.
